Connect Meta Ads

Connect your Meta ad account to Semo so you can ask about ad performance, campaigns, and creative insights directly in chat.

What Meta Ads connection enables

After you connect a Meta ad account, Semo can analyze Facebook and Instagram ad performance from chat.

Semo only reads and analyzes Meta Ads data. It does not create ads, change budgets, or edit campaigns.

Read-only connection

Semo can read ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, creatives, and insight data for analysis, but it does not create ads, edit campaigns, or change budgets.

Step 1: Start Meta Ads connection in Semo

  1. 1

Open Connections from the sidebar in the Semo desktop app.

  2. 2

Find the Meta card and click Connect.

  3. 3

When the Meta approval page opens in your browser, sign in with your Meta account.

  4. 4

You can also start Meta Ads connection from the work tools menu in the chat input.

  5. 5

After connection, you can enable the Meta Ads analysis tool in that conversation.

Step 2: Approve permissions in Meta

The permissions are used to read and analyze ad performance. Semo reads ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, creatives, and insight data.

  1. 1

Choose the Meta account you want to use.

  2. 2

Review the ad account read permissions requested by Semo.

  3. 3

    Allow the required permissions.

Step 3: Return to Semo

If only some permissions were approved

If Semo says only some Meta permissions were connected, return to Semo and use Re-approve Meta to allow the required permissions again.

  1. 1

After approval, the browser shows that Meta ad account connection is complete.

  2. 2

The Semo app opens again automatically.

  3. 3

If it does not open automatically, click Open Semo in the browser.

Step 4: Analyze ads in chat

After connection, enable the Meta Ads work tool in chat and ask about your ad data.

If you have multiple ad accounts, Semo asks you to choose one first. Results are then organized for the selected account.

Show me the top 3 ad performance results from the last 7 days.
Compare CPC, CPM, and CTR by campaign.
Separate this week's efficient and inefficient campaigns.
Summarize only the recent creatives with strong performance.
Check whether budget pacing has any problems.
Compare conversion-rate differences by audience.

If connection does not work

Most issues come from incomplete browser approval, missing permissions, or expired Meta permissions.

  • If the browser does not open, click Connect again in Semo.
  • If Semo does not reopen after approval, click Open Semo in the browser.
  • If you see Reconnect required, Meta permissions have expired and you need to connect again.
  • If an ad account is missing, check whether the current Meta account has access to that ad account.
  • Even if some features show a permission notice, basic campaign and performance analysis may still work.

Notes

  • Meta Ads connection is used for Facebook and Instagram ad performance analysis.
  • Semo can read metrics such as ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, creatives, spend, impressions, clicks, CPC, CPM, and CTR.
  • Meta Ads connection is read-only. Semo does not create ads, edit campaigns, or change budgets.
  • If you have multiple ad accounts, choose the account to analyze before running analysis.
  • If permissions expire or Meta requires approval again, Semo may show Reconnect required.
